MRS. J. G. STRAIN PASSED AWAY SUNDAY, APR. 11

Funeral Services Held Tues at Methodist Church. Interment was in Troy Cemetery. Nellie Mae Middleton, daughter of John Willis and Frances Mathilda Middleton was born February 23, 1891, at Eagle Grove, Iowa. She passed away at her home Sunday morning, April 11, 1943. She spent her day in Eagle Grove, attending the public schools with the class of 1909, and faithfully attending Sunday school and the Methodist church, of which she was an active member. On April 12, 1912, she was united in marriage with Jesse G. Strain, and to this union were born nine children. They are: Mrs. Arlo McGowan of Woolstock; John Strain, Madison, Wis.; Mrs. Milton Helgesen, Madison, Wis.; Allen Strain, Eagle Grove; Milton Strain, Pfc. U.S. Marines; George Strain, Petty Officer, 2/c, Pacific Fleet; Jean Strain, Rochester, Minn.; Jack and Janet, at home. Besides mothering nine children, she is grandmother to nine little people. In addition to her husband, sons and daughters, she is mourned by her mother, Mrs. John Middleton, sisters, Dr. Della Mattson and Mrs. Blanche O'Malley, and her brother, Major Phillip Middleton. Besides her grandchildren, she leaves many nieces and nephews. Her father, John Middleton, preceded her in death nine months. She was a member of the B. of L. F. and E. Auxiliary, the Northwestern Woman's club and the W.S.C.S. of the Methodist church. Funeral services were held in the First Methodist church in Eagle Grove on April 13. Rev. J. R. Tumbleson officiated. Interment was at Troy township cemetery. Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Major and Mrs. Philip Middleton of Fort Knox, Ky., Dr, Della Mattson and Mrs. John Middleton of Washington, D.C., John Strain and Mrs. Milton Helgesen of Madison, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Northrup of Webster City, Mrs. Roberts of Williams, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Studley and Mrs. Root of Dows.
