December 4, 1914 --- June 2, 2004

Elizabeth "Tokey" Erickson, 89, of Dayton, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. Rev. John Sersland will officiate. Burial was at Dayton Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at Carson Funeral Home in Dayton.

Elizabeth Tokheim was born on December 4, 1914, on a farm near Thor, Iowa, the daughter of Elias and Dina (Berg) Tokheim. She attended schools in the area of her birth and later graduated from the Eagle Grove High School. She received a three year registered nurse's degree from Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Clifford E. Erickson on July 3, 1941, at her parent's home near Thor. Elizabeth and Clifford moved to Gowrie in 1942, Harcourt in 1944 and 1958, established their home in Dayton. Elizabeth was employed as a registered nurse and worked at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge, the Gowrie Care Center and was the first Administrator of Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton. She also provided private nursing care in the community. Clifford passed away on December 9, 1983. In April of 2003, Elizabeth became a resident of Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton. She belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton where she was active in L.C.W. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening and working in her yard.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis Erickson of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Larry J. Erickson of Chandler, Arizona; one daughter, Linda Erickson of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles Tokheim of Thor, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford E. Erickson; five brothers and one sister. Memorials may be directed to Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton.
