March 5, 1898---- August 10, 1963

Peter L. Hanson, 65, of 1205 Second St., died Saturday evening [August 10, 1963] at the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines. He had been in failing health the past three years. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. Harvey Prinz officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery where military services will be held. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 9:30 Tuesday morning when it will be taken to the church.

Peter Lloyd Hanson, son of Amos and Louise Hanson, was born March 5, 1898, at McCallsburg, Iowa. He received his education in the McCallsburg community and grew to young manhood in that community, later attending Ellsworth college at Iowa Falls. In 1917, he enlisted in the U.S. navy and served for 26 months during World War I. In 1921, he was united in marriage to Hattie Nervig. The couple started farming near Hardy, Iowa, in 1924, later moving to Wright county and then to Hamilton county. In 1955, the family moved to Webster City, their home since.

He is survived by his wife; seven children, Mrs. Gale (Lorna) Richardson, Webster City, Lloyd Charles Hanson, Clinton, Conn., Mrs. Winfred (Orpha) Walker, Webster City, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Bahr, Woolstock, Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Olsen, Miltetas, [Milpitas?] Calif., Mrs. Melvin (Marjorie) Hames, Williams, and Harlan Hanson, Webster City; 19 grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Andy Thompson, McCallsburg, Iowa, Mrs. Earl Menzel, Zearing, Iowa, and Albert Hanson, Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Mr. Hanson was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and member of American Legion Post 191.
