Robert A. Schroeder, 85, of Kanawha passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Kanawha Community Center. Funeral services for Robert Schroeder will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church, 402 North Main Street in Kanawha with Pastor Tim Rieckhoff-Faris officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Bob Schroeder was born on July 22, 1927, in Mason City to Alfred and Ethel (Dawson) Schroeder. He graduated from Kanawha High School in 1944. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country for three years. On September 22, 1951, he married Mavis Scott in Des Moines. Bob’s career in grain elevator management began in 1950, in Denhart and continued in Clarion, Belmond, Waseca, MN and New Boston, IL, where he retired in 1986. That year he and Mavis moved back to the family farm in Kanawha where he farmed with Bob Ruter until 2008. For years they enjoyed spending winters in Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Bob was a member of the Kanawha United Methodist Church, American Legion, VFW and Masonic Lodge. He loved playing golf and riding in tractors.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mavis. He was preceded in death by his son, Allan Robert; brother, David Schroeder; parents and sister-in-law, Beverly Scott.
