Maynard J. Eittreim, 81, Eagle Grove

Maynard James Eittreim was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on April 22, 1931, to Emmer O. and Sarah (Horstman) Eittreim. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. Maynard served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954, during the Korean War. On November 26, 1955, Maynard was united in marriage with Marilyn McCutcheon at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield. The couple made their home and raised five children in Goldfield, Renwick, Hardy, Waterloo, and returned to Eagle Grove in 1960. Maynard worked on various farms and for Boone Valley until his retirement in the early 1990’s. Maynard was always “working” on something – he especially enjoyed old radios, playing the harmonica, and camping.

Maynard passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, at the age of 81 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmer Eittreim and Sarah Rasmussen; sister, Verna Crane; brother, Calvin Eittreim; granddaughter, Amy Johnson; and great-grandson, Lucas Toillion. He is survived by his wife Marilyn; children: Denny Eittreim and wife, Penny, of Clarion, Diane Loux and husband, Gil, of Goldfield, Debbie Eittreim of Goldfield, Dougy Eittreim and wife, Tina, of Clarion, and Darla Eittreim of Eagle Grove; 11 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; sister, Edna Arne of Eagle Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist
Church in Eagle Grove, with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be left to the discretion of the family. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
