Funeral Rites Held At Britt And Burial Was Made At Renwick

Death came to Mrs. C. H. Packard at Des Moines at 3:40 p.m. Saturday Nov. 4, 1944. Mrs. Packard's late years were spend in Britt but she had lived at Renwick, Iowa, from birth until 1925 when she and her husband moved to Ames. In 1933 they came to a farm northwest of Britt and later moved to town to retire. Soon after coming to Britt a daughter, Mrs. Frances Severeid, died, leaving a daughter Phyllis, which Mr. and Mrs. Packard adopted.

Children surviving this good woman are Harry H. Packard, Britt; Charles Packard, at Welcome, Minn; Mrs. Maude B. Janes, at Renwick, Iowa; and Mrs. Marjorie M. Virtue, of Kankakee, Ill. Mr. Packard died several years ago. Other survivors are seventeen grandchildren, one greatgrandchild, a sister, Mrs. Cora E. Carr, at Ames and a brother, Fred Williams, at Waterloo, Iowa.

Funeral rites were held at the Zion Church of the Nazarene, Britt, Monday afternoon. The Rev. H. C. Shrout officiated. Following the services the body was taken in the Boughton motor hearse to Renwick, Iowa, for burial

During her residence in Britt Mrs. Packard made many warm friends. Her life was an inspiration to others and her tender care of the adopted daughter brought many compliments from acquaintances. She became a member of the Church of the Nazarene at Britt and was a faithful member as long as her health permitted.
