Maynard Yeoman Died Mon., Final Rites Aug. 17, KanawhaFuneral services for Maynard Charles Yeoman, 75, were held Wednesday, August 17, 1977 at the Carter Funeral Home in Kanawha at 1:30 pm. Rev. Bernard Tucker, Pastor of the Grace Baptist Church, of Corwith, officiated Maynard passed away early Monday morning, August 15th at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City where he had been a patient the past month.
Interment was made in the Vernon Township Cemetery at Renwick, Iowa. Casket bearers were Adrian DeWaard, Elmer Trenary, Don May, Ralph Johnson, Wm. Gourley, and Roland Hankins. Mrs. David Nall sang and was accompanied by Mrs. R. E. Jongewaard. Military rites were held at the grave site by Elmer-Wilson Post 229 of the American Legion, Corwith, Iowa.
Maynard Yeoman, son of Wm. Yeoman and Elsie Alden was born March 21, 1902 at Renwick Iowa. He never married, he lived in Corwith, and worked as a day laborer for many farmers in the Corwith area. Maynard had made his home for the past year at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha, Iowa. He had been a patient at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines prior to entering the home in Kanawha where he had undergone surgery for the amputation of both of his legs. Maynard had adjusted to the use of a wheel chair and had kept busy at the home making and selling leather belts. He was an active member of the Elmer-Wilson Post 229 of Corwith and enjoyed helping serve their fish fires before his surgery and attending the events after his surgery. He also attended several of the Senior Citizens meeting in Corwith when weather permitted him to do so.
Maynard is survived by 3 half-brothers, Harold, Arvin, and Willard, all of Monticello, Iowa; and one half-sister, Mrs. RoxiAnn Boss of Cedar Falls; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Olive (George) Yeoman, Corwith, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
