Wilbur Lee Claude, age 86, died at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at his home. He was born August 25, 1926, in Woolstock, Iowa the son of the late Robert and Julia (Ahnne) Claude. A graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Zion Cemetery, south of Mt. Vernon on Highway 39, with a funeral service following 11;00 a.m. on Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. Services were under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Wilbur Lee Claude, age 86, of Verona, died at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at his home. He was born August 25, 1926, in Woolstock, Iowa the son of the late Robert and Julia (Ahnne) Claude. He moved to Lawrence County, Missouri when he was a young man, working at several different occupations for a period of 28 year. Earlier in life he moved to Concordia, Missouri where he worked at St. Paul's College High, as superintendent of buildings and grounds and receiving an Associates of Arts Degree in General Business. He attended Concordia University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated as a Commissioned Lay Minister serving churches in Kansas and Oklahoma. In 1996 he retired and moved back to Verona. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son Alan Claude and his wife, Jacqueline, of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Lee Schoonover of Pierce City, Georgia Burson and her husband Max, of Wichita, Kansas, and Anita Taylor of Monett; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives. His daughter Joni Stearns preceded him in death. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Zion Cemetery, south of Mt. Vernon on Highway 39, with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Wilbur's memory.
