CLEAR LAKE — Lillian B. Thiemann, 95, of 405 27th Ave. S., Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17 at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Bernie Colorado officiating. Inurnment will be in Ell Twp., Klemme. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and then one hour before the service on Monday at the church. Family suggests memorials to Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

Lillian was born Dec. 29, 1916, rural Garner, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Meinecke) Brown. She attended Ventura Elementary School and graduated from Klemme High School in 1934. Lillian married Edwin Thiemann April 14, 1937, in her parent's home at Thompson. They took up residence on the Thiemann farm near Klemme, where they farmed for 40 years. The farm just recently was designated as a Century Farm. While living there she was active at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, where she served in the women's ministry and was a Sunday school teacher. She was named a Master Farm Home Maker in 1969 and was a member of Hancock County Historical Society, the ODO Homemaker's Club and a 4-H leader. She and Edwin retired to Clear Lake in 1977, where she was an active member of Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Garden Club and Crescent Club.

Lillian especially enjoyed writing and was an inspiration to many as she wrote on topics such as heritage, growing up on the farm, and her faith. She enjoyed cooking and baking and always wanted to have something on hand for the visitors she loved to have stop by for a brief or extended visit.

Lillian is survived by her daughter Joyce (Dale) Sorensen, Clear Lake; daughter-in-law Alice Thiemann, Davenport; grandchildren Mark Thiemann, Davenport, Sara (David Schwellenbach) Thiemann, Los Alamos, N.M., Nathan (Avery) TenHaken, Joice, and Heather (Michael) Chapman, Glendale, Ariz.; step-grandchildren Michael (Catherine) Sorensen, Calabasas, Calif., Mark (Jenny) Sorensen, Raleigh, N.C., John (Lynnette) Sorensen, West Des Moines, and Susan (Ben) Haupts, Waukee; six great-grandchildren Dylan Thiemann, Justin Thiemann, Calyx TenHaken, Carsyn TenHaken, Grace Chapman and Benjamin Chapman; eleven step great-grandchildren Britt (Kyle) York; Becky (Mark) Bitzenhofer; Lucia, Katy, Daren, Jordie, Isabel, and Sophia Sorensen: Brad, Hayden, Riley Haupts; two step great-great grandchildren Willa and Meredith York. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin; son Larry Thiemann and three brothers Leo, Percy and Donald Brown. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, Iowa.
