Merlin G. Trauger, 83, Rothville, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Pershing Memorial Hospital, Brookfield, Missouri. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Rothville Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Smith officiating.Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Mendon Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. Memorials are suggested to the WMU Childrens Camp Fund at Rothville Baptist Church may be left at the church or mailed to Weiker Funeral Home, 202 Emma St., Slater, Mo.

Merlin was born July 14, 1929, in Nashua, Minn., son of Guy A. and Ester (Frokjer) Trauger. On June 11, 1950, in Corwith, Iowa, he married Lois Masterson. Mr. Trauger was a member of the Mendon Christian Church and attended the Rothville Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and had lived in the Mendon and Rothville area for many years.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Gerald (Jerry) Trauger, Delight, Ark.; a daughter, Audrey Stephenson, Rothville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Beirm, Chesapeake, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
