January 9, 1920 --- February 2, 1973

The funeral rites for Mrs. Kenneth Mickelson, 52, of R.R. 2, Eagle Grove, were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Thor Lutheran Church, with pastor Marlin Ingebretson officiating. Burial was in Norway Lake Cemetery, Thor.

Elvera Mickelson, a 1st grade teacher at the Lincoln Elementary School, is survived by her husband, one son, Keith Mickelson of Eagle Grove; three daughters: Mrs. Wm. Hanson, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Elwyn Bruhl and Mrs. Marvin Reiland, Eagle Grove. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lloyd Swanson, Renwick; and one brother, Richard Elm, of Phoenix, Arizona and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Elm of Clearwater, Florida.

Elvera Marie Elm was born January 9, 1920 at Duncombe, Iowa the daughter of Elmer B. and Minnie Isabelle Davidson Elm. She attended rural school near Badger, graduated from the Badger High School, was a graduate of the Eagle Grove Junior College and Drake University. Elvera taught in country schools before her marriage and about four years at Renwick.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Mickelson on June 24, 1941 in Missouri. The couple had lived on a farm since that time. Mrs. Mickelson was a teacher in the Eagle Grove Community School system. Mrs. Mickelson was a member of the NEA and the ISEA.

Mrs. Mickelson died in the explosion of the Coast-to-Coast Store and the Chatter Box Cafe buildings in Eagle Grove on February 2, at the age of 52 years and 27 days.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Elm, Clearwater, Florida; one son, Keith Mickelson, Eagle Grove; three daughters - Linda, Mrs. William Hanson, Fort Dodge; Marlys, Mrs. Marvin Reiland, Eagle Grove; and Mary, Mrs. Elwyn Bruhl of Eagle Grove; one brother, Richard Elm, Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Eleanor, Mrs. Lloyd Swanson, Renwick; and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Mickelson was a member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church of Thor. Funeral services were held at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church, thor, at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 5. Pastor Marlin Ingebretson officiated and burial was in Norway Lake Cemetery near her home.
