August 27, 1922 --- December 30, 2012

George Dewey, age 90, of Pleasanton, passed away in San Antonio on Sunday, December 30, 2012. He was born August 27, 1922 in the small town of Eagle Grove, Iowa, where he spent his childhood. He joined the Air Force in 1944 and moved to College Station. There he met and married Peggy, his wife of 62 years. After leaving the service they moved to Houston, where he started his electrical engineering career with Hudson Engineering and remained with them until his retirement in 1981. He moved to Pleasanton with the hope of enjoying small town living again. George was a quiet man, but known by many to enjoy a good joke. He especially enjoyed playing golf and had many rounds with good friends over his 31 years in Pleasanton.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, but is survived by daughter Linda Smith and husband Bob Smith of San Antonio; son Steve Dewey and his wife Beth of Houston. He is also survived by three granddaughters, to whom he was affectionately “Grandpa George,” and 10 great-grandchildren, to whom he was “GG George.” George also left behind two nieces, Pam Fox and husband Steve, Sue Zimmerman and two nephews, Mike Ferrell and his wife Linda and Doug Ferrell.

His family will gather to celebrate his life in San Antonio then he and his beloved wife Peggy will be laid to rest in his hometown of Eagle Grove, Iowa.
