Marcel Hilpipre, 83, of Webster City, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Patrick Wiedemeier officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service.

Marcel Hilpipre, son of August and Fanny Emmenderffor Hilpipre, was born May 3, 1929 at Blairsburg. He received his education in rural schools near Blairsburg. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army in Germany. He farmed in the Blairsburg and Woolstock areas and then moved to Blairsburg. In 1988, he moved to Webster City and in 2010 he moved to Crestview.

Marcel is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Thurman Lappin of Webster City; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; special friend, Margaret Lenning; brothers, sisters and their spouses, Edmund and Gertrude Hilpipre; Elsie and George Story; Erma and Harold Stuhmer; Hortense and Marvin Mortenson; Glen and Pat Hilpipre; Clarence Hilpipre; Irene and Raymond Barkema; three brothers in infancy. He was a member of the French Church, east of Woolstock; American Legin Post # 191; enjoyed fishing and driving his 1937 Chevy in area parades.
