Cleo Bosworth, 98, of Webster City, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Richard Laird officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, north of Webster City. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Cleo Letha Pletcher, daughter of Ralph and Evelyn Knight Pletcher, was born December 28, 1913 on a farm northeast of Goldfield. She was the second of eight children. She received her education through the 8th grade in the Dayton Center rural school in Wright County and graduated from Clarion high school in 1932. On February 22, 1933, she married Clair Henry Bosworth at her parents home in Dayton Township of Wright County. The couple made their home on a farm in Cass Township (the Underwood farm). In 1960, they bought the Northrup farm, still in Cass Township. Clair died of a massive heart attack on November 6, 1971. Cleo continued to reside on the family farm. She had resided at Crestview Apartments since September of 1997.

Mrs. Bosworth is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John and Anne Bosworth of Palm Desert, CA; Kenneth and Judith Bosworth of Anacortes, WA; daughters and sons-in-law, Caralyn and Ronald Clark of Indianapolis, IN; LeeAnn and Dale Winters of Lake Cowichan, British Columbia, Canada; Peyton Canary III of Cedar City, UT; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Evea Laurisch of Downers Grove, IL; several nieces and nephews; Arnold Odland, a longtime friend and farming partner who was like a son to Cleo and a brother to the Bosworth family. In addition to her husband, Cleo was preceded in death by daughters and son-in-law, Beverly Canary; Sheryll and James Whitworth; granddaughter, Cynthia Canary; great-grandchildren, Chantel and Samantha Kennedy; brother, Eldon Pletcher; sisters, Geneva Pletcher, Charlotte Amosson, Irene Kolbeck, Eva Peyton and Eura Marrs.

She was a member of the New Testament Church of Christ and previously the Webster City Church of Christ where she had taught Sunday school for many years. She was active as a 4-H leader for 19 years, served on the 4-H Youth Council, worked where needed at the Hamilton County Fair, volunteered through RSVP at local care centers, was a member of the Okay Club, enjoyed quilting, crafts, needlepoint, jigsaw puzzles and loved being around her family. Cleo was a productive homemaker and farmer's wife all her time on the farms. She taught her children to serve others and love the Lord. She enjoyed taking many trips over the years, all over the United States and at least three visits to Scotland where her youngest daughter, LeeAnn and her family lived. Well into her 90's, she was able to stay in touch with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren on their birthdays and anniversaries. She had a gift for hospitality which many college students, missionaries, neighbors and friends have enjoyed through the years.
