Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial in Bud's name may wish to consider the Bethany Reformed Church, Hospice of Wright County, or the donor's choice.

William Junior "Bud" Boelman, the son of Will J. and Titica (Frohling) Boelman, was born July 9, 1925, on a farm Northeast of Belmond. In his early years he attended rural country schools and later graduated from Belmond High School in the Class of 1942. Following graduation he commenced a life long vocation of farming which he continued from 1948 until his retirement due to health in 1985.

Bud was united in marriage to Marie Dorenkamp on Jan. 20, 1948, at the Parsonage of the First Reformed Church of Meservey. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Stan Boelman. Following their marriage the couple farmed and raised their son in rural Thornton and then Belmond. Their farming operations included raising crops, chickens, dairy cattle, and Chester White hogs which they had shown over the years on the farm. During their life time together Bud and Marie had traveled many miles and made lots of life long friends. Bud loved baseball and had played on many teams as a youth and later on played on various softball teams. Besides playing ball he enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the Minnesota Twins on T.V. In earlier years of his life he had served as a 4-H leader. He enjoyed golf and watching his grandchildren play ball. He was always up for a competitive game of cribbage or the solitude of a good book to read. He also looked forward to the daily camaraderie and conversations at the "Visiting Club" as he referred to it at True Value in Belmond. Bud was very proud of being a charter member of the Bethany Reformed Church, where he had served as both a deacon and elder for many years. He was an ASCS township committee and county committee member over the years.

Those who had the privilege of crossing in his life journey will remember his gentle demeanor, warm and welcoming smile, the twinkle in his eye, and the friendly hello and with a firm hand shake. Bud's memory will live on in the hearts and minds of his wife and life partner of nearly 65 years, Marie Boelman, Belmond, sons, Stan (Shari) Boelman, Ankeny; grandchildren, Michelle (Boelman) Rosel and her husband Bryce and their children Lindsay and Ryan, Waukee, and Steven (Angela) Boelman and their children, Lillianne and Tad, Mason City; also Bud's brothers and sisters, Dorothy Abbas, Belmond, Ruth Dorenkamp, Clear Lake, and Daryl Boelman, Boone; also by many nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joyce Boelman and Herman Boelman; and his sisters, Thada Kuhlers and Henrietta Baker. Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, Iowa.
