Marilyn Maude McKenna, the daughter of Tom and Maude (Martin) McKenna, was born March 23, 1940, in Livermore, Iowa. Marilyn was the youngest of seven children to bless this union, including Helen, Delores, Herb, Richard, Shirley and John. She attended Twin River Schools and graduated from Twin River High School. Marilyn was active in her youth in the music programs of the school. Following her education, Marilyn moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa, where she commenced a career in manufacturing. Later she moved to Colorado where she resided for many years before returning to her Iowa roots, living in Garner and Clear Lake. Marilyn spent many years as a dedicated employee of Metalcraft Manufacturing, Mason City, before her eventual retirement from the company. Marilyn enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, be it hanging out, cuddling and sharing times of solitude with her favorite four-legged companion, Edith, or spending the afternoon on a fishing excursion and an area lake in the pursuit of bullheads or other species of fish. Marilyn loved the outdoors and for many years she relished opportunities to go on camping outings with her close friends.

Marilyn was an avid Denver Broncos fan and devoted John Elway enthusiast. She was known as a gentle-natured person but was well-versed, with a strong opinion on whatever was the subject matter. She enjoyed times spent with her family and her numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn loved young people and was especially fond of the babies in her life. Marilyn was a lifelong, devout member of her Catholic faith, which commenced in her younger years at the Sacred Heart Parish, Livermore, and continued her faith in various churches where she lived including St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake, and most recently at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Belmond. As her health deteriorated she had been making plans to reside at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond, near her niece Jodi (Jeff) Pentico and their daughter, McKenna.

Marilyn is survived by her brothers-in-law Kenny Otto, Kanawha, Iowa, and Jake Uhlenhake, Lee's Summit, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Mardelle McKenna, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Carol McKenna, Livermore, Iowa; along with 22 nieces and nephews and their families. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Maude McKenna; and siblings, Helen, Delores, Herb, Richard, Shirley and John; and her niece Vanetta Molencamp. Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, Iowa.
