Adrian Charles Gragert, 95, of Spring Valley, died Nov. 9, 2004 at Spring Valley Care Center. He was born Dec. 28, 1908, in Dows, Iowa, and attended country schools through the eighth grade. On Nov. 1, 1932, he married Dorothy Ann Fitzgerald in Lime Springs, Iowa. She died in 1986. He married Maggie Walton on May 2, 1987, at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley. Mr. Gragert farmed in the Chester-Lime Springs area for many years before his retirement in 1971. He was supervisor of the York Township Board for 17 years.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bonnie (Carl) Kapka of Raleigh, N.C.; a stepson, George (Sandi) Ricabaugh of San Antonio, Texas; a stepdaughter, Eileen (Ruben) Simmons of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Donald of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Oliver (Emmy Lou) of Minneapolis; and three sisters, Eva (Mahlam) Newsom of Lake Delton, Wis., Lois (George) Rumbold of Vacaville, Calif., and Edith Williams of Minneapolis. A son, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

The funeral for Adrian Charles Gragert was Nov. 12 at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. William Rowen officiating. Burial was in Spring Valley Cemetery.Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
