Alice Arlene Westling, 86, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. Services will be 1:30 PM Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with burial in Union Cemetery at Humboldt, Iowa. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until the time of service Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Alice Arlene Mathiason, the daughter of Carl and Sarah (Thompson) Mathiason, was born December 30, 1925 in Thor, Iowa. Alice married Earl F. Madsen in 1946; they had three children, Michael, Linda, and Larry. Earl passed away in 1954. Alice married Lawrence Westling of Fort Dodge in 1964 and the family resettling here in Fort Dodge. Lawrance passed away in 1985. Alice worked as a health aide for many years, than as in home care aide for many years. Alice was featured in the paper for her work as a care giver several times as well as for the plants that she so loved. She was also a foster grandparent.

Alice is survived by her three children; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her two sisters, Norma (Charles Robert) Reetz of Fort Dodge and Marge Peck of Ankeny, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Earl and Lawrance, her four brothers and three sisters.
