Grace Wolf, of Dawson, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, MN, at the age of 85. Funeral service will be held 1:30 PM, Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, with Pastor Kendall Stelter officiating. Interment will be at Grace Cemetery in Dawson. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church for one hour prior to the service.

Grace (Landon) Wolf was born September 6, 1927, in Belmond, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Ilah Landon. She was baptized at the age of three with her father. Following his death shortly after his baptism, Grace was raised by foster parents, Martin & Susannah Hanson, and attended Belmond High School, where she played alto saxophone, studied Latin, and learned to type. She graduated in 1943, and took a job working as a secretary for Thompson Hybrid Corn Co., where she met husband, Wayne Wolf. Married March 19, 1950, they had four children: Timothy, Brian, Susan and Cynthia and lived in Ohio and Iowa before moving to Dawson in January 1972.

Grace was active in church life, quilting at “Do-Day,” serving on Stewardship Committee, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and mentoring. Her community service includes pioneering Dawson’s “Meals on Wheels” program, delivering meals and visiting the elderly of the community. Her heart for service led her to help with the Blood Mobile, volunteer at school, lead hymn singing at Johnson Memorial Home, and regularly visiting with residents there. In 2001, she received the Minnesota’s Outstanding Senior Citizen commendation and was bestowed WCCO Radio’s “Good Neighbor” award. In recent years, Grace battled dementia, and, suffering a broken hip in 2010, she spent her final years in the Clarkfield Care Center, where she died peacefully, at age 85, on December 4, 2012, in the loving attendance of her daughter, Sue Roisen.

Grace is survived by children: Timothy (Sandy), Brian (Marina), Susan (Jon) Roisen, and Cynthia (Kevin) Gilman; 11 grandchildren: Noelani Lumley, Michaela & Uriah Wolf, Brett & Megan Wolf, Aaron Roisen, Martha (Tom) Alvarado, and Steven, Jordan, Jacob, and Michael Gilman; and 6 great-grandchildren: Aiden Lumley, Mason and Teagan Roisen, Shonen, Maya, and Luca Alvarado. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Wayne on August 1, 2000; brothers; Lyle Dodd and Harry Veeder; sisters, Pearl and Frances Rathman; foster parents and family: Verone and R.J. Linehan, Verdell and Gail Hanson, and Albert and Marvue Menninga.
