Rites Held In Sturgis For Mrs. Jessie Braden, Former Area Resident

Services for Mrs. Jessie Braden were held Friday, Aug. 14, in the First Methodist church at Sturgis with the Rev. Harvey Sander of Rapid City officiating. Burial was in the Bear Butte Cemetery. Mrs. Braden died Tuesday morning at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood.

Jessie Warnes Braden was born January 27, 1884, in England and came to the United States with her parents at the age of one year. They settled in Wright County, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. On June 12, 1907 she married C. H. Braden at Eagle Grove, Iowa, and they moved to Colorado in 1921. In 1925 they came to Ree Heights where they farmed in Green Valley until their retirement in 1946 when they moved to Sturgis. She was a member of the First Methodist church and the WSCS in Sturgis. While in Green Valley she was a devoted worker in the Cedar Congregational Church and Sunday School. Her last visit in the area was to attend the 50th anniversary of the Cedar Church in June, 1961.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Donald and Milford, both of Sturgis; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Michaelsen of Iowa City, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. L. M. Archerd and Mrs. Guy Middleton, both of Clarion, Iowa, and Mrs. A. N. Bean, Siloam Springs, Ark.; and a brother, W. H. Warnes of Riverside Calif. A memorial has been established to the First Methodist church with the funeral home in charge.
