Thomas L. Titus was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, September 25, 1814. At an early age he moved to Morrow County, Ohio. In the year 1842 he was united in marriage to Sarah Cooper. In the year 1853 he came to Whiteside County, Illinois, where he lived until the year 1868, when he moved to Grundy County, Iowa. In the year 1877 he was called, with six children, to mourn the loss of a companion and mother. In the year 1879 he was again married to Mrs. Jane Carty with whom he removed to Wright County, Iowa. In the year 1896 he was again called, with a family of two children, to mourn her loss. Since April 1896 he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. C. W. Wood in Conrad, where he departed his life, October 27, 1898, being 81 [84] yrs, 1 month and 1 day old, fully prepared to enter upon that inheritance, which is incorruptible, undefiled and fadeth not away. A short funeral service was conducted, at the home, on Saturday by Rev. C. W. Cleveland, and the remains were laid to rest in the Alice Cemetery.
