WINTHROP — Pearl Ellen Schabacker, 87, of Winthrop, died at home Sunday, Nov. 11. She was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Belmond, daughter of Steve and Lydia Wolter Dorenkamp. She married Norman John Schabacker on Sept. 21, 1944, at First Lutheran Church, Manchester. She graduated from high school in Manchester in 1944. She worked at Farmer’s and Merchants Bank and later worked for Operation Threshold in Independence. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein.
Survived by: her husband; a son, Rodney (Cathy) of Winthrop; two daughters, Marcia (Gabe) Sciulli of Northfield, Ohio, and Nancy (Gary) Eby of Kirkland, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Schabacker of Ankeny; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: a son, Randall; a granddaughter; two sisters, Myrtle Boss and Mildred Steenblock; and a brother, Leonard Dorenkamp.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with burial in Floral Hills Cemetery, Hazleton. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fawcett Funeral Home, Winthrop, and an hour before services Friday at the church.
