Jane Ford, age 73, of Alden, died on Friday April 6, 2012 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday April 10th at The First Lutheran Church in Dows with burial in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8:00 P.M. at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Sarah Jane (Sparrow) Ford was born on June 11, 1938 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Ora and Agnes (Austin) Sparrow. She attended school in Clemons and Jewell and then after graduating Jane went to the Iowa State Teachers College now known as UNI in Cedar Falls. On August 19, 1960, Jane was united in marriage to Kenneth Ford in Jewell, Iowa. Jane worked as a Home Economics teacher for 1 year in Alden and 2 years in Aplington, was a Dietitian at Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo, was a substitute teacher for many years at local schools, and restored furniture. Jane was involved in the Eastern Star-Rebeccas Club, the Alden Garden Club, Hardin County Home Economists, and was a 4-H leader. Jane was a member of First Lutheran Church in Dows where she taught Sunday School, involved with the Ladies Aide and Church Circle. Jane enjoyed working in her flower gardens, vegetable gardens, sewing, quilting, cooking, baking, and spending a lot of time with her family. Jane also enjoyed attending UNI football games with her husband, Ken and their grandchildren and going on trips to Brandson, MO with her husband, Ken.

Jane is survived by her husband Kenneth, two daughters Jill (Steve) Trusty of Iowa Falls, IA and Peggy (Michael) Swope of Alden, IA; two sons Rex (Ann) Ford of Iowa Falls, IA and Terry (Rachel) Ford of Knoxville, TN; her grandchildren Brianna Brady, Shawna Butler, Christopher Brady, Savannah Trusty, Andrea Buss, Alison Hackney, Emily Ford and Jonathan Ford; great-grandchildren Olivia Hackney and Amari Butler; two sisters Mary (Art) Sandvig of Memphis, TN and Rosalie Ingeldue of Clemons, IA and a brother Austin Sparrow of Webster City, IA. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Martha Suzanne Olson, a brother-in-law Richard Olson an infant brother and an infant sister.
