WEBSTER CITY - Harry Nelson, 93, of Webster City, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at his home. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City, with Revs. Mike Kroona and Tony Ede, officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and prior to the service on Friday.

Harry Nelson, son of Carl and Frederikke Peterson Nelson, was born June 17, 1919 on a farm near Thor. He attended a rural school south of Thor. Upon completing eighth grade, he worked for his dad and neighbors to help support the family. He and his two older brothers enlisted into the army shortly before the attack on Pearl Harbor, where he served for five years. After the war, Harry and his brother, Hans began farming together in Thor on the family farm. On January 16, 1949, he married Irene D. Davidson at Thor. The family moved to the Webster City area to expand their farming operation. In his retirement years, Harry enjoyed building his retirement home and helped build the local church in Granby, Colorado.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Irene; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl (Mike) and Melody Nelson of Eagle Grove; Mark and Korinne Nelson, Doug and Debra Nelson, all of Webster City; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Kenneth Getting of Williams; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, Hans (Carol) Nelson of Webster City; Clarence (Carole) Nelson of Lake Havasu, AZ; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin, Elmer and Jens Nelson; sisters, Lela Nelson, Alice Nelson and Esther Johnson. Harry was a member of the Lord of the Valley Church in Granby, Colorado.
