Connie J. Heaton, 75, of 106 6th Ave NE, Farley, Iowa, and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 5:03 p.m. at her home in Farley, Iowa. Friends and relatives of Connie may call from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa. Friends may also call after 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2012 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Farley, Iowa, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Kurt Hansen officiating. Private burial will be held in Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City, Iowa at a later date.
Connie was born December 7, 1936 in Goldfield, Iowa, daughter of Herman and Edith (Livingston) Egemo. She was a graduate of East High School in Waterloo, Iowa and also attended the University of Northern Iowa where she received her Bachelor’s degree. Connie taught in the elementary grades for the Western Dubuque School District until her retirement. She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Farley, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Heaton of Farley, Iowa; two children, Steven Heaton of Dubuque, IA and Kelly (Terence) Bergfeld of Sherrill, IA; three grandchildren, Benjamin Bergfeld, Jillian Jean Bergfeld (and special friend, Travis Breiner)and Spencer Heaton; Siblings, LaVonne Jones of Ames, IA, Shuraleen Egemo of Wellman, IA, and Wilma Runyan of Waterloo, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Erving Egemo; her mother-in-law, Mildred Sinnwell; and two brothers-in-law, Allen Runyan and Clyde Jones. A Connie J. Heaton memorial fund has been established.
