Joachim Klaessy was horn September 3rd, 1848 in Luchsingen, Kanton Glarus, Switzerland. In
August, 1846, at the age of 16 he came to America and located at New Glarus, Wisconsin, at which place in 1871 he was united in marriage with Anna Katherine Luchsinger. To this union were born three sons and four daughters, of whom one son preceded him in death. In 1891 with his family he moved to Iowa and located on a farm north of Renwick, moving to town in 1914, where he resided until the time of his death. On Tuesday, January 6th, he was stricken with paralysis from which he failed to rally and passed away at 9:35 a. m. January 9th, 1920 at the age of seventy-one years, four months and six days. He leaves to mourn his departure his sorrowing widow, two sons, Samuel and Fred of Renwick and four daughters, Mrs. Ida Stauffacher of Harrisburg, South Dakota, Mrs. Emma Bloom, Mrs. Fannie Phipps and Miss Ottilia Klaessy of Renwick, and thirteen grandchildren besides many relatives and friends."All things that are on earth shall wholly pass away; Except the love, of God, which shall live and last fore aye." "Our Heartfelt sympathies are with you in your bereavement; and for comfort we would refer you to God's word where he speaks the everlasting truth found in John 11-25-26.
