Goldfield Woman Dies After Stroke at Home

Goldfield — Funeral services were to be held at the Wilson funeral chapel at Eagle Grove Friday afternoon for Mrs. William Slater who died suddenly at her home Tuesday night. Mrs. Slater had been in poor health for some time. A heart attack caused her death. Mr. Slater was at his work at the soybean plant at Eagle Grove when she was stricken, but a nephew, Jack Slater who has made his home with them was at the home. She is survived by her husband and the nephew whom she has raised.

Funeral services for Mrs. Will Slater were held on Friday afternoon at the Wilson Funeral Home at Eagle Grove. The Rev. J. C. Harris of the Church of Christ conducted the service. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove. The local Boy Scouts and their Scoutmaster, Conger Whyte attended the service in a body.

Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Logan Slater was born at Lincoln, Illinois, May 28, 1881. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Logan, and died October 17, 1944 at her home in Goldfield, Iowa.

She was married to William Slater June 19, 1901, at Lincoln, Ill., where they resided until 1923 when they came to Iowa.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband and son, Jack, and the following brothers and sisters, William, Charles, Alvin, Fred, Arnold, Thurman, Julia, Logan, and Mrs. Bessie Sparks of Lincoln, Ill.; Grover, of Pekin, Ill., and Mrs. Ferdella Eaton of Hickory, Virginia. Those who preceded her in death are Eugene, Jack, and Belle Logan and Mrs. Lena Smith.

Funeral services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home with burial in Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove.

Those from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Logan, Mrs. Julia Logan, Mrs. Bessie Sparks, Mrs. Creade Darmely, Thurman Logan of Lincoln, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. George Luse, Mason City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith, Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. Olaf Peterson and Mrs. Nels Peterson, Rockwell City, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. V. Holek, Ft. Dodge.
