Wanda Watkins, age 94, of Algona died on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services will be Noon on Friday March 9th at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona, with Rev. Shai Wise officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Hagg-Turner American Legion Post # 90 & VFW Post #2541 of Algona. Visitation will be at 11 am, followed by the service on Friday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.

Wanda Ann Watkins was born on December 5, 1917 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Smith) Seaquist. Wanda graduated from Bradgate High School in 1936. She married William Watkins on June 19, 1938 in McIntire, Iowa. They made their home in Algona in 1946 where Wanda became the Manager at Ora’s Women’s Clothing and raised their two sons, Barry and Paul. She retired in 1979. Wanda enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, aerobics, and golfing. She played her last round of golf when she was 92.

Survivors include her sister, Patricia Myers, of San Antonio, Texas; daughter-in-law, Susan Watkins, of Omaha Nebraska; four grandchildren, Amanda, Barbara, Jason, and Angela; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband William in 2002; two sons, Barry in 1999 and Paul in 2011; a brother, Albert Seaquist Jr. during WW II, and sisters Margaret McVicker and Phyllis Smith.
