Chris Adams Rites to Be at Dougherty
Requiem High Mass will be celebrated for Chris Adams, 75, at 9 a. m. Monday at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church in Dougherty, with father A. A. McAvoy officiating. Mr. Adams, a retired grain elevator manager of Cartersville and Dougherty, died Friday at a Mason City hospital following a short illness.He was born Jan. 25, 1879, on a farm near Clarion. He attended the schools of Wright County and later was graduated from Humboldt College, Humboldt. He was married to Rose Frakes Feb. 16, 1903, at Clarion. They moved to Woolstock where they started a general store. In 1905 they moved to Valosty, Minn, where he operated a grain storage elevator and general store. In 1909 they moved to Cartersville and operated the grain elevator and general merchandise store. In 1915 they moved to Dougherty where he operated the grain elevator. In 1922 he resumed management of the Cartersville elevator which he operated until his retirement in 1943. Mr. Adams was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Dougherty, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1106 of Mason City, and also a member of the Cerro Gordo County Golden Wedding Club. He was also a former mayor and marshal of Dougherty.
Surviving are his wife, Rose, a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Kathleen) Flaherty, Charles City, and three
grandchildren, a sister, Kathryne Bromley, Eagle Grove, He was preceded in death by three brothers
and two sisters. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Dougherty. The Colonial Funeral Home of Mason City is in charge of arrangements.Mason City Globe Gazette -- Mason City, Iowa
