Frederick E. Evans, the son of Harvey O. and Ethel V. (Fisher) Evans, was born February 27, 1917, on the family farm in Woolstock, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1934.

Fred served in the United States Army, 34th Company Red Bull Division. He was stationed in Italy and Africa, serving from 1941 to 1945. On December 9, 1945, Fred was united in marriage with Frances K. Klinger at Goldfield and they made their home on the Evans family farm near Woolstock. Fred devoted his life to continuing the farm that has now been in the family for 127 years. The couple moved to Eagle Grove in 1985. Fred was a member of the United Methodist Church in Woolstock and Eagle Grove. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and playing cards, especially cribbage.

Mr. Evans passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances on July 13, 2005 and two children, Harlen and Kristie.

Survivors include three daughters: Judy Evans-McDowell of Canyon Country, California, Constance Landgraf and husband James of Montgomery, Texas, and Melody Amonson and husband Kelly of Woolstock and seven grandchildren: Jami McDowell-Davis, Andrea Landgraf, Traci Landgraf, Aleta Amonson, Joshua Amonson, Alana Amonson, and Alec Amonson.
