January 18, 1951 --- January 5, 2003

Jim H. Poutre, 51, of Thor, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2003, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Friday at the family's shop building at 1604 13th Ave. N., in Humboldt, followed by a family visitation time celebrating the life of Jim until 8 p.m. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Poutre is survived by his wife, Marcia of Thor, daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Brian Skow of Humboldt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Allan and Lesli Poutre of Goldfield, Daryl and Kris Poutre of Humboldt, Garry Poutre of Wayne, Nebraska, Lloyd and Marsha Poutre of Spencer, and Randy and Diane Poutre of Manson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Steve Fairchild of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Peg Poulsen of Spencer, and JoAnn and Rick Skow of Humboldt; 22 nieces and nephews; and three great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim Howard Poutre, the son of Fred and Marjorie (Heden) Poutre, was born January 18, 1951, at Hardy and baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church. He was raised near Thor until moving with his family to the Hardy-Renwick area. He graduated from Boone Valley in 1969 and following his education was employed with Ron's DX in Renwick. On December 10, 1971, he was united in marriage to Marcia Kunert and the couple made their home in Beaver Township before moving to Thor. In January of 1972 he became employed with Thor Grain before it became Hardy Co-op and finally Gold-Eagle Co-op. Jim was employed by the Co-op for 31 years and held the position of manager at the time of his death.

Mr. Poutre was a member of Ullensvang Lutheran Church and was the water commissioner for Thor. He was past member of the Thor City Council and volunteer fire department. He enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, fishing in Canada, and golf.
