Erma Fern (Danielson) Willey was born June 22, 1915 in Leland, Illinois, and passed away May 17, 2002 at the U.S.A. Healthcare Center in Clarion, Iowa. She was 86 years old. At five years of age, her family moved to Mount Ayr, Iowa, where she attended school and met her husband to be, Harold Willey. They married June 22, 1935 and made their home in Mount Ayr. To this marriage were born three children: Harold Norman, Marylin Yvonne and Linda Raye. Erma helped her husband raise mink while raising their children and tending to their home. After many years of raising mink they switched to raising dogs until their retirement. She also liked to take walks and play bingo.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel C. and Maggie (Wood) Danielson; her husband Harold; a daughter Marylin; a brother Pete and his wife Ruby; a brother-in-law Ray Stacy; and two nieces. She is survived by her son Norman and his wife Pam of Rock Springs, Wyoming; daughter Linda and her husband Dave Mathany of Indianola, Iowa; a sister Elva Stacy of Shelton, Washington; a son-in-law James Mohr of Eagle Grove, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverend Diana Holland officiating. Musicians were Ginny Eighmy and Nancy Sackett. Casket bearers were James Mohr, Kenneth Mohr, Ronald Mohr, Michael Mohr, David Mathany, Donald Mathany, Michael Willey, William Bough and Brian Bjornson. Erma was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
