Funeral services for David Meinke, of Hamilton, Iowa, were held on Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Iowa. Burial followed in the Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Mo.

David Allen Meinke was born on October 26, 1958, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Elmer Meinke and Lorene (Bohr) Meinke. David grew up on a farm near Renwick, Iowa, where he moved with his family in 1959. He graduated from Boone Valley High School in 1977, and enlisted in the United States Navy. After being discharged from the Navy, David attended NWICC in Sheldon, and worked at Schultz Brothers GM Dealer in Algona. He then moved to Eagle Grove and attended ICCC in Fort Dodge. Following graduation he worked at Lind Implement in Colfax before moving to Monroe and working at Hewitt’s Tire Service. David then moved to his home in Hamilton. David was baptized on November 9, 1958, and confirmed on April 15, 1973. He had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ which began as a child and continued through his adult life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. As a mechanic, David was always tinkering with cars and enjoyed playing with his dogs, Sam and Yo. David enjoyed working in the Knoxville VA Greenhouse following his retirement. David passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012, at his home at the age of 53 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Lorene, Elmer and Kay Meinke; and an infant niece, Jennifer Meinke. Survivors include his siblings: Nikki (Dean) Rick of Eagle Grove, Carl (Suwalee) Meinke of Leavenworth, Kan., Donna (Elmer) Jones of Eldridge, Michael (Nancy) Heiter of Charles City, Cathy (Kent) Crossley of Hardy, Curtis (Karla) Meinke of Goldfield, Thomas Heiter of Salina, Kan., Cheryl (Matthew) Warming of Baraboo, Wis.; nieces and nephews: Stephanie (Derek) Gaster of Danville, Stephen (Amber) Rick of Madelia, Minn., Steven Meinke (Anna Lockhart), and Megan Meinke, both of Chicago, Ill., Andrew Jones of Des Moines, Jason Jones (Laura Scheetz) of Omaha, Neb., Beth Heiter of Bettendorf, Jeff Heiter (Amy Boley) of Charles City, Kelly (Michael) Steinfeld of Stanton, Calif., Jacob (Sarah) Crossley of Renwick, Logan Crossley (Domino Brundage) of Thor, Anthony (Miriam) Meinke, Mitchell Meinke (Hilary Crees), Erica Meinke, all of Goldfield, Matthew (Brittney) Heiter, Nathan Heiter, Patrick Heiter, all of Goodland, Kan., Rebekkah Wamser of Salina, Kan., Allison Warming and Nicholas Warming of Baraboo, Wis., great nieces and nephews: Brandon, Carter, and Avery Gaster, Jocelyn Rick, Adalynn Crossley, Rylee Brundage, and Weston Heiter. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Bybee & Davis Funeral Home of Knoxville, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
