CLEAR LAKE - Russell C. "Russ" Freese II, 69, of 2004 S. Taft Ave., Clear Lake, died Monday, July 30, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday Aug. 2, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, Iowa, with Chaplin Janet Dorenkamp of Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Interment will be in Coulter Cemetery, Coulter. Family suggests memorials to Russell C. Freese II Memorial Fund or Hospice of North Iowa.

Russell was born March 8, 1943, in New Jersey the son of Russell C. and Mary (Gatlin) Freese. He was with his family as they traveled the world as his father was career Army. He came back to Iowa visit his grandmother where he met and married his wife Charlotte "Charlie" Hartkopp on Nov. 15, 1968, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Hampton. They lived in Aredale, Iowa, where he trucked for Umthun Trucking, Eagle Grove, and later SMX. He enjoyed reading, was a history buff, doing jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and building plastic models. He was very proud of his safety driving award he received for his 30 years driving and had driven over four and half million miles.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte "Charlie" Freese, Mason City; three children Rachel (Brad) Bryant, Mason City, Christine (Mark) Pauly, Arlington, Minn. and Joseph (Sara) Freese, Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren Kyle Bryant, Joey Bryant, Skyler Freese and Gavin Freese; two sisters Ruth Williams, Virginia and Randa Fetterman, New Jersey; three brothers Richard (Lorena) Fries, N. Dakota, Ronald Fries, N. Dakota; brother-in-law Merle G. Hartkopp, Clear Lake, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St., N.E., Mason City, Iowa.
