Aged Woolstock Man Dies Thursday

WOOLSTOCK— Funeral services for Ollie H. Bige, 86, who died Thursday in the Hamilton County hospital in Webster City, were held Sunday afternoon in the Woolstock Methodist church, Rev. Earl V. Nelson of Vincent officiating. Burial was in the Woolstock cemetery. He had been a hospital patient since Nov. 27. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter in infancy, one grandchild, his parents, two sisters and one brother. Surviving are three sons and three daughters: Harold of Stanhope, Cecil of Webster City, Martin of Woolstock, Mrs. Melvin Brown of Waterloo, Mrs Jake Ratcliff of Eagle Grove, and Mrs Lloyd Williamson of Marion. Other survivors are 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Jesse of Tampa, Fla.

Ollie H. Bige, son of Alexander and Lucinda Bige was born April 5, 1870, on a farm near Bloomington, Ill. He received his education in the schools near Bloomington and grew to young manhood in that community. In 1892 he came with his parents to Iowa, locating on a farm in Cass township in the Oak Glen vicinity. He was united in marriage Sept 5, 1891, to Alice Allen, and the couple farmed in Cass township for two years before moving to a farm in Wall Lake township, Wright county, where they lived two years. They moved to a farm in the Woolstock community, the family home since. Mr. Bige was a member of the Methodist church at Woolstock. He was a former member of the school board, serving for seven years.
