Henry "Sonny" Vinnece was born June 7, 1942, to Henry and Muriel Hoiland Vinnece at Badger, Iowa. He attended Eagle Grove Schools and graduated in 1960. He attended the Eagle Grove Junior College and graduated in 1962. On December 26, 1962, he was united in marriage to Shirley Olson. He served with the Army Security Agency from 1962 to 1965 and also served in Vietnam. The couple lived in Maryland and Hawaii before moving to Thor in 1994. He was employed at the National Security Agency from 1965 until 1994 when he retired. He was a member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor.

Henry "Sonny" Vinnece died Saturday, November 1, 1997, at the Trinity Retional Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa at the age of 55. Survivors include his wife, Shirley, Thor; daughters, Marti Jo Vinnece of Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Wendi Ann Vinnece-Lamothe and her husband, Roland, San Antonio, Texas; his parents, Henry and Muriel Vinnece, Humboldt; and sisters, Marjorie McKellips, Fort Dodge, and Teresa Hood and her husband, Phil, Clare.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, November 4, 1997 at 2 pm at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor with the Reverend Dale T. Jenson officiating. Burial of the cremains was held in the West Ullensvang Cemetery near Thor.
