March 31, 1884 --- December 21, 1965

W. Martin Wierson, 81, 2921 Wood St., was born March 31, 1884 at Roland and died at his home Dec. 21, 1965 after a long illness. Born the son of W. T. Wierson, he was a farmer around Story City and Roland until moving to Wright County in 1917 where he farmed until moving to Ames in 1936. Mr. Wierson had been employed with the Palmer Plumbing Co. and with the physical plant department at Iowa State University until his retirement several years ago. He was a member of the St. Andrew's Lutheran Church. Mr. Wierson married Sarah Egemo Feb. 12, 1908. Survivors include his wife, Sarah; five sons, Ward M., Route 2, Stanley M., Route 1, Archie L., 516 River Oak Circle, Eugene, 415 24th St. and David, 206 South Franklin Ave.; seven daughters, Mrs. Marie Opheim, 329 South Russell Ave., Mrs. Edith Swett, 1309 Top-O-Hollow Road, Mrs. Sherri Bartram, 2921 Wood St., Mrs. Sylvia Peck, Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Vivian Moffitt, Raytown, Mo., Mrs. Idellys Olson, Grinnell and Mrs. Genevieve Dobson, Cedar Rapids; 45 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. J. B. Rognlien, 301 Stanton Ave. four brothers, Oscar, John, Andrew and Leonard. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23 from the St. Andrews Lutheran Church with the Rev. William K. Benbow officiating. Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
