Darrel W. Friesth, 75, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. David Grindberg officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery with full Military Rites presented by the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
Darrel is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Steven (Julie) of Fort Dodge; daughters, Jeanine Lowry (Matt) of Somers and Terry Friesth of Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Laurie and Jamie Friesth of the St. Paul, MN area; Tyler, Tanner, Taylor, and Tatum Friesth of Fort Dodge; Libbie, Dalton, and Sidney Lowry of Somers; Dominic Duvall of Loveland, CO and a great granddaughter, Zoe Coppick; mother, Helen (Hustad) Friesth of Booneville, MO; brother, Keith (Doris) Friesth of Fort Dodge and a sister, Merna (Larry) Bulke of Booneville, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Friesth; son, Scott Friesth and a granddaughter, Nicole Friesth.
Darrel Wayne Friesth was born October 17, 1936 in Thor. He attended Eagle Grove schools and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1954. Darrel enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955. He then moved to Fort Dodge and was united in marriage on February 14, 1956 to Janet Mae Davis. After Darrel's honorable discharge in 1959 the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Darrel was employed with Davis Construction until 1972. He then opened and operated Suzuki of Fort Dodge for a number of years. Darrel later managed the parts department at SMX until his retirement in 2003. He was a 4-H Horse Project Leader and Director,member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church,and a longtime foster parent. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
