MASON CITY — Henrietta F. Floden, 95, of Mason City died Tuesday (Jan. 12, 2010) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Jan. 15, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church Wayside Chapel, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Thursday, at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with an Eastern Star service at 6 p.m. and also one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church and Hospice of North Iowa.

Henrietta F. Floden was born March 3, 1914, the daughter of Ira L. and Ida J. (Lister) Shaner, in Clarion. She and her family moved to Mason City in 1923 and she attended and graduated from Mason City High School in 1932. She was married to Vernon “Tommy” M. Floden on March 8, 1941, in Mason City. She was employed at Curries Hardware Store for 14 years, Allis Chalmers for 16 years and then United Dairy as a computer operator for 11 years until her retirement in 1975. After retirement Henrietta and her husband moved to Weslaco, Texas, where they lived until she returned back to Mason City in 2003 after her husband’s death in 2000. She lived at Kentucky Ridge Assisted Living until moving to Good Shepherd Health Center in 2008. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a former member of B.P.W. and Wa-tan-ye and also a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church. Aunt “Hank” was a wonderful, thoughtful, compassionate, precious woman who loved all her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Henrietta’s family would like to express a special thanks to Good Shepherd Care Center for the wonderful, compassionate care that she received over the last few years.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon “Tommy” Floden in 2000; her parents; three brothers, Howard, Louis and Harry Shaner; and sisters, Clara Shaffer, Pearl Gettman and Ione Lester. Arrangements are with Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory.
