Margaret E. Risa, 94, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18th, 2012 in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Redenius officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her children, Sandy Risa of Fort Dodge; Morri Risa of Somers; Lori (Greg) Ayala of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Ami, Maureen (Moe), and Jennifer; 3 great grandchildren and 4th great-grandchild will join the family in May; brother-in-law, Donald Madsen of Illinois; and her extended family at Friendship Haven.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Minnie (Seiser) Kirchner; husband, Sigurd in 1975; sisters, Nellie Carlson, Vera Klingshei, Lydia Fatland, Elsie Madsen; and long time family member Maury Breen.

Margaret Elizabeth Kirchner was born on February 9, 1918 in Homer, IA. She attended one-room country schools. On August 22, 1936 she was united in marriage to Sigurd S. Risa and the couple made their home in Eagle Grove. They later moved to Clarion; and in 1942, they moved to Fort Dodge. Besides being a homemaker and a seamstress, she was a stay at home mother and raised her children. Margaret enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, and cooking. She loved life and loved to make people smile. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
