Jerry Trusty, 76, of Webster City, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Mercy North Medical Center at Mason City. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Revs. Mike Kroona and Tony Ede officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Iowa National Guard Honor Guard.
Jerry Lee Trusty, son of Darl and Cora Fox Trusty, was born February 22, 1936 at Clarion. He graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City, in 1954. On February 17, 1956, he enlisted in the Iowa National Guard and served until April of 1982. On June 8, 1956, he married Shirley Ann Songer at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. He drove for Crouse Cartage for several years. His next venture was Jerry's East Side Grocery, which he owned and operated from 1982 to 1991. He also worked at Berry Hardware in Webster City and for two years worked at Steve's Place in Kamrar. In 1999, he retired and continued to reside north of Webster City.
Mr. Trusty is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Phil Schweitzer of Alexandria, MN; Vicky Trusty of Webster City; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Jodi Trusty of Kamrar; Dan and Barb Trusty of Rogers, AR; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; sister and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Ernst Brungraber of Green Bay, WI; Don Jackson of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Norine Trusty of Blaine, MN; several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Trusty and sister, Darlene Jackson.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Webster City. He was an avid Lynx Wrestling and football fan and loved the time he spent fishing.
