October 25, 1928 ---- March 25, 2012

Lyle D. Ammerman, 83 of Clarion passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Careage of Clarion in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Lyle Duane Ammerman was born October 25, 1928 on the family farm near Goldfield. He attended country schools near Alexander, and helped on the family farm. Lyle served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, and after his discharge from the service, he worked for Franklin Manufacturing in Webster City as a welder. He later worked at the Goldfield Creamery, Hagie Manufacturing and Erickson Manufacturing as a welder, until he retired at the age of 65 for health reasons. Lyle was united in marriage in December 15, 1956 at the Clarion Presbyterian Church, and to this union, 4 children were born. Lyle was a workaholic; he loved doing body and other restoration work on classic cars. He maintained a vegetable garden all the way until last year. He also enjoyed trout fishing, and was a lifelong camper, traveling with his family to campgrounds all around the country.

Lyle is survived by his children: Kathy (Dennis) Gamble of Story City, David Ammerman of Klemme, Sandra Bojack of Dows, and Richard Ammerman of Belmond; one sister: Betty (Ronald) Hilpipper of Homer, Illinois; one brother: Ronald (Dorothy) Ammerman of Grand Island, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Caroline Ammerman of Clarion, and Mi Ja Ammerman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; very special friend Virginia Farris of Clarion; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, and six of his sisters and brothers.
