BELMOND - Jerold "Nick" Nicholas Sheehan, 70, died on Thursday March 22, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, at the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond. The Rev. Phillip Arnold will be officiating the service with burial to follow at the Belmond cemetery. A visitation will take place at Andrews Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to service.

Nicholas Sheehan was born on Feb. 21, 1942, to Paul and Ruth (Daggett) Sheehan in Clarion, Iowa. He was the second of eight children. Nick graduated high school from Clarion. On Aug. 26, 1966, Nick was united in marriage at the Bethany Reformed Church to Linda Jurgens. This union was blessed with three children: Chris, Matthew and Melissa. Nick worked several different jobs in numerous locations before settling in Belmond in 1974. Together he and Linda enjoyed each other's company through daily conversations about work and family. Since making their home in Belmond, Nick worked at the Co-op in Clarion, Winnebago Industries and Armour. He continued to work even past retirement and loved to stay busy lending a helping hand to friends and family. Nick was always generous with his time whether for his church or for his family. Both were important parts of his life. The generosity he carried was especially expressed through frequent visits with his mom and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Whether it was gardening at the Children's Garden of Belmond, fishing, camping, attending their events or just being around them, every moment counted. He was always known to have their favorite treat of a Dum Dums or Juicy Fruit gum in his pocket for them. Faith was a strong focal point in Nick's life. He loved to read and study the Bible. He was an active member in the Bethany Reformed Church. In addition to spending time with family and studying the Bible, Nick enjoyed reading countless Westerns, walking on the trail and stopping by garage sales and "The House of Treasures" looking for the best deal.

Nick's love and memories will continue on in the hearts of his children: Chris Sheehan, Belmond; Melissa (John) Sifert, Belmond, and their children, Caden Cooper, Cohen, Callum and Clemintine; Matt (Jennifer) Sheehan, Belmond and their children, Samara, Grace and Ava; mother Ruth Sheehan, Clarion; siblings John (Candi) Sheehan; Mike (Cindy) Sheehan; LaNora (Don) Boggess; Jean (Ron) Brooks; Pauline Michaels; Kathy Stein; in-laws Frieda Jurgens; Lynn (Becky) Jurgens; Dennis (Jane) Jurgens; and many nieces and nephews. Nick was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his father, Paul; brother Dennis; father-in-law Lloyd Jurgens; sister-in-law Beverly Chambers; Jeff Stein and Todd Jurgens; nieces Amanda Sheehan, Tammy Jurgens, Lonnie Jurgens.
