September 25, 1953 - February 9, 2012

Mark Messenger died suddenly on February 9th, 2012. Mark graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1972 and was an avid and successful athlete, participating in both football and wrestling throughout his high school career. Following graduation, Mark attended Iowa Central Community College and then moved to Iowa City, where he attended the University of Iowa and studied computer science. In 1994, Mark returned to Eagle Grove and worked for Neodata, and very soon was hired by the Clarion post office where he worked as a mail carrier until October of 2011 when he retired.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard (H.T. Bud) Messenger in 1998 and sadly Mark's brother, Mike passed away recently as well. Mike resided in Chicago, Illinois. Mark is survived by his mother, Shirley Messenger of Eagle Grove, his sister, Ann (Messenger) McCormick of St. Louis, MO and brother-in-law Tim McCormick of St. Louis Missouri. Mark will be missed by his family and friends. He was a great brother, son and friend.

A private memorial service is being planned. Contributions may be made in Mark's name to the Humane Society of Wright County, PO Box 296, Eagle Grove IA 50533.
