MASON CITY - Dorothy Maxine Lugg, 85, of Mason City, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Cornerstone Assisted Living in Mason City. Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 E. State St., Mason City, with the Rev. Sid Bohls officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mason City in Dorothy's name.
Dorothy Maxine Lugg was born on Aug. 18, 1926, to Clarence and Doris Myhre Norcross in Woolstock. Dorothy attended and graduated from Lyle High School in Lyle, Minn., where she lived when she was a child. Dorothy was united in marriage to Lloyd Lugg in April of 1945 and moved to Mason City. To this union, two children were born: Steven and Dan. She worked at the Black and White Restaurant, Lytles Restaurant and Libby-Owen Ford, all in Mason City. She also was employed at E. F. Johnson in Clear Lake. Dorothy was a homemaker as well taking care of her children and grandchildren and babysat when possible. Dorothy loved to cook and spend time with her family. Lloyd and her would spend many winters in Texas, enjoyed camping, and went on fishing trips to Canada. She also enjoyed crocheting and playing games, such as the 500 card game and Wahoo, marble and dice game. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was active in the Priscilla circle at the church.
She will be missed by her two children, Steven (Paulette) Lugg, Ventura and Dan (Doris) Lugg, Rockford; grandchildren, Sarah Lugg, Ventura and Brian Lugg, Cedar Falls; sisters, Beverly Tibbits, Robins, and Connie Randall, Mason City; brother, Carroll (Marilyn) Norcross, Mason City; brother-in-law, Dick Almquist, Fort Meyers, Fla.; sister-in-law, Deloris Norcross, Ill. and Irene Biard, Boulder City, Nev.; uncle, Bob Myhre, Austin, Minn., along with many nieces and nephews.
