Kathlyn Johnson, 90, of Arnolds Park, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake. She was born on March 29, 1921, in Palmer, Iowa, to Josiah and Eva Moore. Kathy graduated from Akron High School in 1939, and the University of Northern Iowa, with a teaching degree. She was united in marriage to Laurel Johnson on July 4, 1944, in Kanawha, Iowa. Kathy taught for several years. Kathy was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, helped in the library and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed spending her spare time reading, cross-stitching and Norwegian rose painting. Kathy is survived by her husband, Laurel Johnson of Arnolds Park; daughter, Lynn Jongeling of Sioux Falls, S. D.; son, Stephen Johnson of Lake Crystal, Minn.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Chalice. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. The Schuchert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
