Mae Ruth Thompson, age 91 formerly of Muscoda and Richland Center, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Lafayette Manor in Darlington, Wisconsin. She was born on December 27, 1920 in Corwith, Iowa, the second of five children born to Clarence and Alma (Shultz) Oxley. On April 22, 1939 she married Oren C. Thompson in Waterloo, Iowa. She and Oren farmed the family farm in Iowa until moving to a farm outside Muscoda in 1960. After Oren passed away in 1979, Ruth sold the farm and purchased a house in Richland Center. In 1984 Ruth married Dr. Lance Eller of Kanawha, Iowa. She enjoyed her outside flower garden and had a green thumb when it came to growing violets and cactus. Ruth developed her love of music as a child. A piano was always a part of her life. She loved playing the piano and played at several local nursing homes. For several years she was a hostess at the senior citizen meal site. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and crocheting. Having crocheted over 50 sweaters without a single pattern. She crocheted afghans. For several years she braided rugs and made several using twine. Ruth also enjoyed playing bingo.

Ruth is survived by her children: Harlan (Karen) Thompson of Waukee, Iowa, Denise (Aurelio) Hernandez of Mesa, Arizona, Lorene (Sherman) Peterson of Argyle, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren: Christine Brown, Shari Sheahan, Bryan Thompson, Kathy Knetter, Tamara Durbin, Carrie Sanders, Gretchen Ericksmoen, and Keith Peterson; eleven great-grandchildren: Molly Sheahan, Jack and Max Thompson, Jace, Taylor and Luke Knetter, Cailey and Logan Sanders, Reagan and Devyn Durbin, and Wyatt Peterson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, two sisters and two brothers, her son Eldon and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel 120 N Park Street, Richland Center, Wisconsin, with Pastor Craig Peach officiating. Burial will be in the Basswood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service of Richland Center is assisting the family with their arrangements.
