Fall Proves Fatal to Mrs. Dalen
A fall Thursday afternoon from a feeder-wagon loaded with corn proved fatal to Mrs. Ole Dalen, 54, of Estherville. Mrs. Dalen died of a blood clot Saturday afternoon at Palo Alto Memorial Hospital caused by a fractured hip suffered in the fall. She fell while selecting corn for her chickens from a wagon load of corn.
The funeral arrangements have not been completed pending word from a son who is in service in Korea. Rites will be held at the First Lutheran Church at Graettinger with the Rev. E. Quam officiating. Pall bearers will be Leslie Dalen, Einer Dalen, Jalmer Linn, Wilhelm Linn, Otto Jacobsen, and Jeffrey Jacobsen.
Mrs. Dalen (Hannah Amanda Mundal) was born in Kristiansand, Norway May 31, 1897. She was married to Ole J. Dalen, April 15, 1918 at Ruthven. She had lived in Emmet and Palo Alto counties. Her husband and nine children survive. Her mother resides at Avaldesnes, Norway and a sister, Mrs. Harold Halsendahl, at the same city. Mrs. Dalen was a life member of the Lutheran Church. Three children died in infancy; Carl Bernard, Ole, and Leonard Lee. Mrs. Dalen returned Sept. 2nd from her childhood home in Norway where she had visited during the summer months.
