William Nelson White, eldest son of Simpson and Hester White was born at Lostant, Ill., March 9, 1866, and passed away at the Lutheran Hospital in Hampton May 1st [1945], at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 22 days. At an early age, he was given to Christ in baptism in the Methodist church at Lostant. As a young man, Mr. White went to Chicago, where he was employed for several years. On January 10, 1893, he was united in marriage to Kate Martin, who preceded him in death 11 years ago. To this union three children were born: Moses, who made his home with his father, Lewis White and Mrs. Ed Witherell of Clarion.
Mr. White came, with his family to Iowa in 1896, and farmed near Clarion and in the Lincoln and Wall Lake communities until 1938, when he and his son Moses, moved to Galt where he resided until his death. He leaves to mourn his passing besides his three children, three grandchildren: Pvt. Carroll White who is somewhere in Germany with the U.S. 7th Army, Mrs. Betty Morford and Marlene Dee Witherell; two brothers: Lew and Murt White; two sisters Mrs. Sam Bauman and Mrs. Ed Yocum, all of Clarion and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends and neighbors. Mr. White was a kind and loving father and will long be remembered for his many acts of kindness to his family and friends.
