A funeral service for Clara Worden, 93, of Spirit Lake was held Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial was at Memory Gardens.

Clara Elizabeth Worden was born Nov. 18, 1918, in Wright County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Petry) Fischer. Clara grew up in Clarion. After completing school, Clara became a beautician and opened her own shop in Des Moines. On Sept. 3, 1944, Clara was united in marriage to Raymond Worden in Leavenworth, Kan. Two sons were born to this union, Curtis and Dennis. The family moved to Spirit Lake in 1954 where they operated a refrigeration business. Clara also worked at Lundstrom's Furniture, Vacation Village, Worden's West Side Resort and OK Hardware. Clara was a member of the United Methodist Church as well as the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Clara passed away Jan. 14, 2012, at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at 93 years of age. She is survived by her son, Denny (Cathy) Worden of Spirit Lake; daughter-in-law, Deb Bockman of Milford; granddaughter, Tatia Krieger of Spirit Lake; great-granddaughter, Alanna Krieger of Spirit Lake; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray in 1985; son, Curtis Worden in 1993; her parents; three brothers, Ed Fischer, Dutch Fischer and Jack Fischer; two sisters, Audrey Rink and Bernice Dellage; brother-in-law, Rollin Rube. Turner Jenness Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
